BIO

Sophia is a Palestinian-Greek writer and director with over a decade of experience across film, television, and digital media. She has directed projects for companies including Disney, HBO, and BBC. Her latest project, BLACK SHORE — a Greek body horror inspired by the mythology of Medusa — was awarded the Tribeca Festival Through Her Lens Production Grant.
Her Disney-funded short LEAVING LEBANON was produced through the studio’s LAUNCHPAD program, while her screenplay CHLORINE was a Tribeca semifinalist. In 2023 her AFI thesis film TO THE DUST was selected as American Film Institute’s submission for the Yugo BAFTA Student Award.
Sophia’s work blends atmospheric horror, psychological thriller, and magical realism to explore themes of identity, isolation, and the darker sides of the female experience. Raised between the Middle East and Europe, her multicultural background deeply informs her cinematic voice and visual storytelling.
She holds an MFA in Directing from the AFI Conservatory and is currently developing her debut feature film.
Sophia is represented by Matt DiPaolo at Zero Gravity Management.
